A Case Study
McCarthy Building Companies – DiSC for Team Cohesion & Communication
Background:
McCarthy, a large general contractor, implemented Everything DiSC personality assessments as part of a leadership development program.
Impact:
-
Enhanced collaboration between project managers, superintendents, and subcontractors.
-
Increased self-awareness helped reduce tension during project crunch times.
-
Improved communication between field and office staff led to fewer miscommunications and delays.
-
Used DiSC to pair team members with complementary communication styles.
Quote (paraphrased from training partner):
“When superintendents understood their ‘D’ style, and PMs understood their ‘C’ or ‘S’ styles, they stopped blaming each other and started adapting.”

Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ's
What is ProjectSync exactly?
ProjectSync is a communication and collaboration support program for internal stakeholders working on the same job site. It includes simple, structured discussions , Catalyst profiles for better team understanding, and follow-up support to keep crews aligned and jobs running smoother. Both in office and the jobsite.
How will this actually help us on the job?
By helping stakeholders coordinate earlier, prevent miscommunication, and reduce finger-pointing. Better communication means fewer schedule conflicts, better handoffs, and less rework — which saves time, money, and stress.
What does this have to do with mental health or suicide prevention?
A lot, actually. Construction has the highest suicide rate of any industry. Isolation, pressure, and communication breakdowns make it worse. ProjectSync builds a culture where people feel heard, respected, and less alone. That connection can be a lifeline.
Who is this for — just the GCs or everyone on site?
Everyone matters. We work with builders, GCs, subcontractors and trades (framers, drywallers, HVAC, electricians, painters, etc.) because the problems — and the solutions — affect all of you. The goal is better jobsite communication across every internal stakeholder.
Why choose KaiNetic and ProjectSync over other programs?
Most programs teach about communication. ProjectSync builds it into the jobsite. At KaiNetic we focus specifically on construction, real-world conditions, and the unique stressors of construction. We bring tools that are fast and field-tested across industries. KaiNetic is also apart of the community you live and work in.
Why are you doing a pilot — do you even know what you’re doing?
Yes, and we want to make it even better with your input. The pilot helps us test and tailor the program to real jobsites like yours. You’ll get extra support, more flexibility, and help shape something that could benefit the whole industry.
Is this like another HR thing or soft skills training?
Nope. This is not about lectures or fluff. It’s about real issues on the job, like trades stepping on each other’s toes, people not being on the same page, and problems that get ignored until they blow up. This helps you fix that — fast.
We’ve done our own internal training. How is this different?
Internal training is great — but ProjectSync brings in an outside perspective and cross-connect collaboration, not just company-focused training. We help crews from different companies communicate better, spot blind spots, and solve problems together — right where they’re happening: the jobsite.
We get along fine, for the most part. How could this actually improve anything?
That’s a great place to start. ProjectSync isn’t just about fixing broken teams — it’s about leveling up what already works. Even good crews run into gaps, assumptions, or silent frustrations. This helps surface and solve them early, so you stay ahead, not reactive.
How can ProjectSync help with stress and burnout?
A lot of stress on site comes from miscommunication, schedule pressure, and feeling like no one’s listening. ProjectSync Community tackles that directly. When crews are aligned and know what to expect, it removes friction and builds a stronger support system — so the job feels less like a fight.
Who should go through the training and join the ProjectSync membership?
The most impact comes when everyone connected to the jobsite is involved — builders, GCs, trades, and crew leaders. Whether you're a solo sub or a mid-size contractor, if you're part of how a job gets done, ProjectSync can make your work smoother and your relationships stronger.
Do I have to hug anybody?
Nope. No hugs. No trust falls. Just real talk, practical tools, and maybe some mutual respect by the end. (But if you do end up high-fiving a drywall guy, we won’t stop you.)
What if my crew doesn’t want to talk at all?
That’s normal. Most crews don’t show up eager to talk about communication. That’s why we keep it short, focused, and practical. No one’s expected to bare their soul — just say what’s working, what’s not, and hear each other out.
Is this some corporate HR thing in disguise?
No sir. No jargon, no click-through modules, and no “synergy” nonsense. This is built for people who are actually working on site, for people who are tired of chaos and just want to get the job done right.
Will this magically make my subs show up on time?
We’re good — but not that good. What it can do is help set clearer expectations so fewer things fall through the cracks — and fewer surprises lead to finger-pointing.
What if I or someone else on my team can't make it. Can I send someone else in thier place?
Yes and No. A new assessment will have to be paid for and issued to the replacement to attend the training/onboarding. Due to the time involved to get this done, last minute replacements cannot be done. Contact us for more information on it.
It’s just me in my company. Why would I get involved?
Even solo operators are part of the bigger picture. You still work with other trades, GCs, and crews — and that’s where ProjectSync makes a difference. Being part of this community helps you build better relationships, avoid missteps, and become the kind of trade partner everyone wants back.
Where will training be held? Can we have it at our location?
Yes — we can bring the training to you if you have a suitable space and basic setup (screen, seating, etc.). Training is typically held locally in Greeley, CO, but onsite sessions are available. During the pilot phase, there’s no extra charge for onsite training if you’re open to inviting your trade partners or vendors. It’s a great way to get everyone aligned from the start. Contact us to discuss in more detail.
